CraftNique Gel Stain & Glaze can be applied over most surfaces including on top of an existing finish as long as the surface is properly prepped. The clear gel base can also be used as a stain conditioner.

Surface Prep
Proper surface prep is key to success! 
  • Old Furniture  
  1. First thoroughly clean surface using a good degreaser. (TSP, Denatured alcohol, dish soap, vinegar etc) Then with a clean, damp rag, wipe off any traces of the cleaner. CraftNique Gel Stain is waterbased and will not adhere over any waxed surface!
  2. Next step is to give the surface a light scuff sand with a fine sand paper 220 to 400 grit. Do Not use stearated sandpapers or tack cloths as they contain waxes and can cause adhesion problems.
  3. Remove sanding dust.

How to Apply
CraftNique Gel Stain & Glaze can be applied using any type of brush or HVLP Sprayer. A foam brush works fine. 
Simply brush or spray on and let it dry. No need to wipe off. CrafNique Gel Stain will self level.
Apply as many coats as you want. Color will build and get darker with multiple applications. Have fun and try layering different colors.

Dry Time
Allow 1 to 2 hours between each coat of stain and give 2 hours before top coating with your choice of sheen of Extreme Protection Top Coat.
